Lithology and Thickness
The suite has a varied lithological composition. Its thickness apparently exceeds 1500 m. It is made up of layers and lenses of clayey and siliceous shales, polymictic sandstones and siltstones, less frequently - limestones, plagio-liparites and andesites, gravelites, conglomerates. Lenses of limestone usually have several dozen meters in length and the first few meters in width, but sometimes their dimensions increase to one and a half kilometers in length and two hundred meters in width. Some of these bodies, according to D. A. Starshinov, undoubtedly lie in a secondary burial and are the product of erosion of biogenic structures that were located here.
